Marine Cylinder Lubricant
GulfSea Cylcare EHP 5055
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
GulfSea Cylcare EHP 5055 is an extra high performance Marine Cylinder Lubricant (MCL) designed for the latest generation technology of low speed crosshead diesel engines operating with higher pressures, temperatures, longer strokes, and on a wide range of residual fuels having sulphur content in the range of 1% to 3.5% by weight. This lubricant is formulated with the latest leading edge technology and satisfies the most stringent requirements from Engine Manufacturers for this range of products.
GulfSea Cylcare EHP 5055 answers today’s and tomorrow’s concerns from shipping companies for the management of bunker fuels in a fast changing fuel environment and the subsequent impact on the lubrication of 2-stroke marine engines. GulfSea Cylcare EHP 5055 is a straightforward and efficient solution for the application of MARPOL VI regulation on marine fuels, allowing operators to utilize a wide range of low or high sulphur fuels with only one cylinder lubricant.
GulfSea Cylcare EHP 5055 offers a wide safety margin while providing performance and convenience in varying fuel environments. This lubricant is available as a SAE 50 viscosity grade with a BN (Base Number) of 55.
APPROVALS
EHP 5055 is a specifically designed lubrication technology with an additive package that has passed successfully full in-house laboratory tests and extensive engine field tests.
EHP 5055 has been approved by the major diesel engine manufacturer, MAN B&W, after having successfully passed extensive field tests. |
APPLICATIONS
Cylinder lubrication for the latest and most highly rated low speed crosshead marine diesel engines operating on heavy fuels with sulphur content in the range of 1% to 3.5% by weight (compliant to MARPOL regulation).
TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
• Latest in leading edge technology exceeding marine main engine maker (OEM) requirements
• Compliant with MARPOL regulation on marine fuel sulphur content:
- ECA's where fuel sulphur levels are capped at 1.0 %
- Global cap of sulphur content in fuel from 4.5% by weight down to less than 3.5% by weight
• Enhanced additive technology enabling less use of chemical products thus facilitating a lower environmental impact
• Good compatibility with all elastomeric seal materials
FEATURES & BENEFITS
• One cylinder lubricant to manage the lubrication of the main engine while using a wide range of marine fuels: LSFO in ECA areas (less than 1.0% sulphur content) and HFO (OEM requirements on feed rate must be followed closely depending on the sulphur content of the marine fuel used)
• Allows use of the same feed rate of a BN70 cylinder lubricant with a 3% sulphur fuel
• Provides ease of use with a wide range of fuel sulphur levels
• Facilitates the management of cylinder lubricant onboard the vessel with a ‘‘one fits all’’ solution, avoiding the need to fit the vessel with two distinct cylinder oil storage tanks
• Proven first class lubrication performance (without sacrificing corrosion control and detergency properties in low feed rate conditions) comparable with 70 BN lubricants
• Excellent control of cylinder corrosive pitting maintaining effective hydrodynamic lubricating film on cylinder walls when operating on low sulphur fuels
 |
|
Improved low ash chemical performance which reduces excessive piston top land deposits which may occur when using 70 BN lubricants with low sulphur fuels |
| |
|
|
 |
|
Enhanced anti-wear properties minimizing liner and ring wear thus leading to reduced maintenance costs |
| |
|
|
 |
|
Excellent detergency minimizing deposits on critical components
|
| |
|
|
 |
|
Excellent thermo-oxidative stability reducing deposit and sludge formation

TYPICAL PROPERTIES

GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H
PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H is a superior quality Marine Cylinder Lubricant designed for all low speed 2-stroke engines operating on residual marine fuels. This Marine Lube is specially developed for Main Engines operating at high cylinder pressures & temperatures and long piston strokes. It has an outstanding quick capability to neutralize acid action thus minimizing the liner and ring wear and helping to prolong the life of engine components. The other main characteristic of this Lube is its superior detergency that minimizes the deposits on the engine critical parts like the pistons, piston rings, ring grooves and cylinder ports. GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H provides excellent engine cleanliness and an outstanding contribution to 2-Stroke Marine engines durability.
This Marine Lube is available in SAE 50 viscosity grades and has a BN (Base Number) of 70.
APPROVALS
"GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H" is a specifically designed lubrication technology and the additive package has passed successfully full in-house laboratory tests and extensive engine field tests that confirm its premium performance.
A letter of No Objection for use of GulfSea DCA 5070H had been issued by MAN Diesel on 9th January 2009. |
APPLICATIONS
GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H is recommended for the cylinder lubrication of all, and particularly the most recent, low speed crosshead 2-stroke marine diesel engines operating on residual marine fuels with sulphur contents in excess of 1%.
While using GulfSea Cylcare DCA 5070H, the feed rates the manufacturer recommends can be kept to the minimum. In certain circumstances, depending on the engine and operation conditions, higher feed rates may be required.
